Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Great Lakes Jobs ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Platform.

Description of Service

Great Lakes Jobs is a voice-first marketplace that connects employers with verified licensed professionals in Michigan. Our platform facilitates communication between employers seeking professional services and licensed professionals seeking work opportunities.

User Accounts

Professional Accounts

To register as a professional, you must:

  • Hold a valid license issued by the State of Michigan
  • Provide accurate license information for verification
  • Maintain an active license while using the Platform
  • Provide accurate contact and location information

Employer Accounts

To register as an employer, you must:

  • Provide accurate company and contact information
  • Have authority to bind the organization you represent
  • Maintain an active subscription to send job notifications

Pricing and Payments

For Employers

  • Subscription: $99/month includes 25 messages/calls to professionals
  • Additional messages: $3-5 per message beyond subscription allocation
  • Interest fee: $15 charged when a professional indicates interest in your job

For Professionals

  • Earnings: $1 for each job notification received
  • Referral bonus: $1 for each referred professional who completes verification
  • Withdrawal: $100 minimum balance required, processed via Stripe Connect

License Verification

All professional licenses are verified against the Michigan LARA database. You authorize us to verify your license information. If your license is found to be invalid, suspended, or revoked, your account may be suspended or terminated without refund of any earned balances.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Provide false or misleading license information
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
  • Use the Platform for illegal purposes
  • Spam or harass other users
  • Attempt to manipulate the referral system
  • Interfere with the Platform's operation
  • Circumvent payment systems or fees

No Employment Relationship

Great Lakes Jobs is a marketplace that facilitates connections between employers and professionals. We are not a party to any employment or contractor relationship between users. All terms of work, including compensation, hours, and scope, are determined solely between the employer and professional.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Great Lakes Jobs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we verify licenses against the LARA database, we do not guarantee the quality of work performed by professionals or the accuracy of employer representations. Users should conduct their own due diligence.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Great Lakes Jobs, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Earned balances may be forfeited if termination is due to violation of these Terms.

Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall take place in Michigan. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes. Your continued use of the Platform after such notification constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
